Comparative to major brands in quality and function

Seems well made in general but had issues

I was initially impressed by the fit and finish of the kit. But when I tried to hook it up, it had the wrong fitting for a US-style "B" acetylene bottle installed; the normal way these tanks are fueled in this country. The right fitting was included, but the wrong one was in so tight that it was very difficult to remove. In the struggle, the very flimsy plastic knob shattered. I was finally able to remove it by holding the brass part in the 3-jaw chuck in my lathe and putting a pipe on my wrench, but this isn't something everyone's going to be able to do. When I got it working, I noticed the torch made a very loud whistling sound which I've never encountered before on an air-acetylene torch. The larger the tip, the louder the sound was, up to ear-damaging levels. And the gauge was sticky - the indicator needle seemed to get hung up, instead of responding. I haven't done much with it besides trying it out initially, but I'm not sure I'm going to keep it. I'm wondering what the procedure is for returning it. I'm also wondering if this review is really going to show up on the website.

In the field it’s not practical to have two bottles for brazing (oxy n acetylene) all the time. This setup eliminates the need for oxy and aside from that is a very well made set of equipment that was recommended to me from a seasoned fitter. Comes with a nice carry case too, I highly recommend this.

Very good for the money. Shows that some of the overpriced torches can have competition by the low cost items
